Exciting Announcement

Have you been over to the ScrapMatters forum recently? A few designers over there have challenged themselves to scrap some pages. I decided to join them last weekend and challenged myself to scrap 15 pages by the end of the month. I got a 1/3 of the way there last weekend and hope to get some time to scrap some more this weekend. Already have Photoshop open and ready to go. :) You can follow our progress in the Scrap Chatter section.

iNSD Grab Bag

Hope everyone is having a great interNational Scrapbook Day (weekend ;) ) so far!

We've had some excitement around our house the past couple weeks. One of the kids' rabbits finally had a live litter of baby bunnies! They have been trying all winter to breed the rabbits, but unfortunately every attempt prior to this has ended up in heartbreak for them. This time we ended up with 5 cute little bunnies that so far seem to be doing very well. They are hoping that a couple of them will be nice enough to show at fair this summer along with a couple of the older rabbits. This was their last shot at getting some juniors to show before the deadline for their animal identification to be turned in to the county. Kailee has already staked her claim on the smallest one of the group. She has named it "Tootsie Roll". lol. They are currently residing in my house because the temps have still not been the warmest around here, so we decided to make it easier on them and moved them inside. The kids are loving it! Every morning one of the first things they do when they get downstairs is check on them. (Ok I admit it...so do I. ;) ) They are getting to be so cute!

It's hard to believe that my kids only have about a week and a half left of school. The weather here has been so crazy! The calendar may say May, but we just had about 3-4" of snow on Wednesday and today when we took the daycare kids on a walk we had to have them all bundled up because it was so cold outside. Last weekend we were having temps in the 70's to 80's. I'm ready for winter to finally just go away for a few months so we can finally enjoy some nice weather.

Mixed Matters Grab Bag

I am so glad I'm not having to deal with having to take college classes anymore on a regular basis. I just finished up taking two grad classes last weekend, so I can renew my teaching license that expires in June. I forgot how not fun they are and how much work it takes to get them completed. Probably doesn't help that right now our schedule at home busy with volleyball and Tae Kwon Do tournaments for the older two about every weekend and practices during the week. The classes were due on Monday and I sent the last one off on Saturday just before the post office in town closed. Talk about being stressed out. But that is now behind me and I have another five years before I have to renew it again...this time I'm not waiting until the last minute to get all my hours done. (I'm pretty sure I said the same thing five years ago, but apparently didn't listen to myself.) So that is what I have basically been up to the last six week while my blog has sat here feeling lonely and neglected once again. But I'm back now and hope to be able to post a little more often.

Family Ties

Things are pretty busy around here right now, so I'm going to keep it pretty short this week. :)

Family is such a large part of my life. Paul and I both have very large extended families and we get together quite a bit. When we are together we create a lot of great memories and have a lot of fun. Family Ties was created to help me scrap some of these great memories that we have made over the years. I hope it helps you preserve some of your great family memories, too.

Love is in the Air

Wow, hard to believe we are into the second month of the new year already! I'm ready for it to be spring though. This past week has been so cold! School was even 2 hours late on Wednesday because of the cold. Quite a few others around the area even closed. We were supposed to have 30-40 below zero windchills. Brrr! Hopefully the groundhog doesn't see his shadow tomorrow and spring will come early. ;) I can't complain too much though since it has been a fairly mild winter again, relatively speaking anyway. I just really don't like the extreme temperatures of this time of year.

Paul and I had the weekend to ourselves last weekend because my in-laws took the kids for the weekend to a local hotel with a water park. It was nice to have some time alone again, since it's been a while again. We spent most of the day on Saturday working in the bathroom again trying to install the shower and tub fixtures. Thankfully we live close to town so it's not that far to run back in when the parts you pick up aren't quite right and you have to go back to get different ones (a couple of times. lol.).

We also went to the new restaurant in town. The location had previously been home to a restaurant that had been around for over 75 years and owned by the same family that entire time, but a few years ago they closed down unexpectedly (even the workers were surprised when they showed up and it was locked up tight) shortly after getting sold to someone else. Earlier last year it was announced that a young gentleman that had grown up in the area and had trained at Cordon Bleu had bought the building and was going to be reopening it. There was a lot of buzz and excitement around the area about the reopening. They spent several months redoing the inside and coming up with a menu of fresh, local foods. It finally re-opened in October. We heard lots of good things and looked forward to getting to try it ourselves. We had been meaning to get there for quite some time, but the opportunity just never seemed to come up. I can say it was definitely worth the wait! The food was very good and the service quick once we were seated. It was pretty busy but the wait was not too terrible long for a Saturday night. We've had longer waits at some chain restaurants. We definitely plan on going back again.
